Memorial services were conducted at Mangum Memorial Methodist Church, 3939 Pines Road, Shreveport, LA for Robert Owen "Bob" Berry, age 46, on Tuesday, January 25, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating was the Reverend Paul Carroll of Mangum Methodist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Boone Funeral Home.

    Mr. Berry died Saturday, January 22, 1994 at LSU Medical Center after a long fight with cancer. He was born in Converse, LA on April 27, 1947. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1965, Louisiana Tech in 1969, and was a member of TKE Fraternity. He was a member of Mangum Methodist Church, "QB's" Quiet Birdmen, assistant Scoutmaster of Cub Scout Troop 123, and a certified hospice counselor.

    Bob served with distingtion as a Forward Air Conroller (FAC) during tthe Vietnam war, flying under tthe callsign "Rustic 17" He was among the earliest pilots in the top-secret "Rustic" program, which provided critical, round-the-clock air supor over Cambodia between 1970 to 1973.  His decorations include The Distinguished Flying Cross, six Air Medals and two Commendation Medals.

    He was  preceded in death by one son, Brendan Berry.

    He is survived by his wife Jill Berry of Shreveport; two sons, Spec 4 Colin Berry, stationed at Pt. Drum, NY and Mark Berry of Shreveport; one daughter, Sarah Berry of Shreveport; his parents Elmer and Syble Berry of Shreveport; one brother, Don Berry and his wife Pat of Haughton; one sister Sandy Long and her husband Don of Shreveport; nieces and nephews include Alan Berry, Michelle Berry, Amy Long and Kelly Long and a host of relatives and cherished friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that all memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society for research.
