Joseph E. Boyle, a United States Air Force Pilot and Forward Air Controller during the Vietnam War, served his country with courage and dedication.From May 1972 to May 1973, he served as a Forward Air Controller with the “Rustics”, flying dangerous combat missions over Cambodia directing tactical air strikes in support of allied ground forces. Rustic Forward Air Controllers operated in some of the most hazardous conditions of the war, requiring exceptional flying skill, precision, and calm judgment while working under enemy fire. J oseph was the son of John J. Boyle and Dorothea L. Boyle of West Wareham, Massachusetts. His service reflected a deep commitment to duty and to the men he supported on the ground. Joseph E. Boyle was laid to rest at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, Massachusetts. His service and sacrifice are remembered with respect and gratitude. |
